Where Desert Glow Ranch Began
Desert Glow Ranch started with a simple, personal problem: our own skin was dry. Life at elevation — dry mountain air, biting wind, relentless high-altitude sun — was more than conventional lotions could keep up with. So we turned to what was already growing around us, and set out to build premium, small-batch skincare from the botanicals native to the desert and mountain landscape we call home.
Rooted in the Land
Every batch starts on our family ranch in Colorado, where wild Rocky Mountain prickly pear and juniper berries grow along the dry streambeds and rocky slopes around us. We hand-harvest what we use, including from one especially generous juniper shrub on our land we've nicknamed "The Mother" for just how full and abundant it grows each season.
Slow, By Design
Nothing here is rushed. Every batch is cold-infused for five full weeks — our Madagascar vanilla infuses even longer, eight-plus weeks in jojoba oil — hand-agitated daily to draw out what each plant has to offer, with zero heat involved. It's a slow, deliberate process, and it's the reason our salves smell and feel the way they do. It's also why we can leave out the water, fillers, and synthetic fragrance that most conventional skincare relies on.
A Personal Note
I have acne-prone skin myself, and Wild Mountain Glow and Wild Desert Glow are the two I reach for most on my own face — the juniper and sandalwood in Wild Mountain Glow, and the rosehip oil in Wild Desert Glow, are especially good for acne-prone skin. Mocha Glow is the newest addition to the line, so it's simply had less face time from me so far — though I've tested it on my own skin too, with no issues. All three carry something genuinely good for your face; these two just happen to be my personal go-tos.
Small-Batch, On Purpose
We keep every batch small enough to make by hand, from harvesting to infusing to filling each tin ourselves. It's slower than scaling up would allow, but it's the only way we know to keep the quality we'd want on our own skin — premium ingredients, thoughtful formulations, and an earthy elegance in every detail, down to the packaging.
